I think adding creative arts to the environment of anyone suffering from schizophrenia or low-functioning bipolar disorder is a very important part of therapy. There is a genius part of these people. With James it is putting together networks, whether it be with water or electricity. People mention Nijinsky all the time. Many times when people have original visions, not influenced by the world around them, but out of their own head, it's a crap shoot as to whether the world will understand them or not. In the case of LC Tiffany and what he wanted to do with glass, the world understood. In the case of Nijinsky, they did not, and he went mad. I think the author has a great point that giving schizophrenics instruments, art tools, some form of expression might make their voices understandable to the world, because words are crappy tools.
